Combining the best of daily fantasy sports and traditional season-long leagues, Hoop'd Fantasy offers a new twist on a pick'em style game for the entire NBA season.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Hoop'd Fantasy blends the best aspects of daily fantasy sports roster building and season-long fantasy leagues, while eliminating their biggest pain points.

At the beginning of every week:


  • Your personalized Lineup Builder will be refreshed to select a new 9-player roster using a $60k salary cap, similar to FanDuel.
  • But without the daily hassle - you set it and forget it for the week.
  • Player salaries are based on recent performance and adjusted weekly using FanDuel's salaries.

Building Your Weekly Lineup:


  • Construct your roster by staying under the $60k salary cap across these positions: PG, G, SG, SF, F, PF, C, FLEX, FLEX.
  • Submit your lineup before the first game of the week, generally on Tuesdays.
  • Watch your players' real performances translate into live scoring updates.

Scoring Broken Down:


  • 3-Pointer Made: +1 point
  • Field Goal Made: +2 points
  • Free Throw Made: +1 point
  • Turnover: -1 point
  • Steal: +3 points
  • Block: +3 points
  • Assist: +1.5 points
  • Rebound: +1.2 points

    • Example: If a player scores 3 field goals, 2 free throws, 1 three, 5 assists, 7 rebounds, but 3 turnovers, their total would be 21.4 points.

Handling Injuries/Missed Games:


  • An injury or missed game? Don't worry, we take the average of each player's game played scores over the week to account for any imbalance.

Tracking Your Progress:


  • Check the weekly and overall standings on the interactive dashboard.
  • Your weekly scores accumulate towards a season long total [if you are in a season long league].

    How long are the leagues?


  • It's up to you! Even though the season has already started, you can create your own custom league duration from any week to any other week. There will always be a free weekly public league that you can join.

  • For example, at the time of writing, the second week of the NBA season has concluded. You can log into the platform and create a league from Week 3 to Week 7 for a November league. This will require you to pick a lineup each week to determine a monthly champion.

    • Where do I sign up?


  • Simply go to hoopd-fantasy.vercel.app, create an account, confirm your email, join a public league or create your own, and use the lineup builder tab to submit your lineup!

    • Are there any money leagues?


  • Not at the moment. However, I do run private weekly competitions with friends. If you're interested, feel free to reach out to me!

I've been an NBA fan since 2004 and immerse myself in everything related to the league. From writing newsletters to moderating multiple forums on RealGM throughout middle school to college, my passion for the NBA runs deep.However, there's one exception: I detest fantasy basketball.Why?Injuries decimate teams' chances too early in the season, transforming it into a game of luck rather than skill. This leads to frustration and decreased engagement, resulting in league imbalances where a few dominate by capitalizing on the disengagement of others, leading to uninteresting and lopsided competitions.Enter Hoop'd Fantasy. We've created a weekly pick'em game that sustains a season-long narrative, offering a less intense but equally engaging alternative to daily fantasy sports. Players select a lineup of nine within a 60k salary cap. Choose the right undervalued talent and select the stars for the week to build the best lineup you can. We keep things fresh with themed weeks, like restricting picks to players under a 9k salary, injecting new strategies and excitement into the mix.The concept came to life on a simple Google Sheet and App Script setup just a week before the season last year, with 14 friends joining the initial league. And now we have a fully functioning app allowing you to create your own league.Our ultimate goal is to build a fantasy sports platform where anyone can create and customize their leagues and rules, playing with friends and fellow enthusiasts.
